The Jewish Law Association
Report on European Regional Meeting
17-18th November July 2013
Central Theme: Jewish Law, Law and Judaism
On 18-19 November, 2013, over 40 scholars met at the Neue Synagoge – Stiftung Judaicum for the Jewish Law Association's European regional conference, 'Jewish Law, Law and Judaism'. For a full programme, please click here.
Participants came from across Germany, from Austria, Israel, the Netherlands, France, Canada, Poland, the Czech Republic, the UK and the USA. Plans for future meetings of the European region are afoot.
A number of Berlin institutions co-sponsored the event: Especial thanks for their central role go to the staff of the Abraham Geiger College, and to our hosts at the Neue Synagoge. Two of the other co-sponsoring institutions, the new Potsdam School for Jewish Theology and the Zacharias Frankel College, were launched at events timed to coincide with the JLA conference; in co-sponsoring, the Berlin-Brandenburg Center for Jewish Studies, another new initiative, was involved in organising an international conference for the first time; and additional support was drawn from the Canon Law Institute and the Evangelical Institute for Church Law of the University of Potsdam, and from the Leo Baeck Foundation.
